Well, Dino Drac’s Spooky September Funpack is finally ready to launch, and if you’re wondering why it’s going up so late – or why I’ve been mostly MIA lately – I’ll point you to this post, for the truncated tale of my terrible two weeks!
That said, all subscribers boxes were shipped between Wednesday and Thursday, and they’re on the way. While subscriptions are maxed out, I have a small number of spares to offer on an individual basis. As always, the cost is $25, and that includes shipping to anywhere in the United States. If interested, zip to the bottom to see if there are any left!
Now, let’s dive into Dino Drac’s annual Spooky September Funpack to see what ghastly goodies are in store…
Leading the charge is another banger from my friends at Terror-Vision Records. You’ll each receive a case-fresh, factory-sealed copy of the Ghoulies soundtrack, on audiocassette!
Man!! These beauts are officially-licensed, with the cassettes cast in a slime green plastic that I believe may be a color release that Terror-Vision has never done before.
Ghoulies was released in theaters in 1984, but gained greater fame in video stores during the subsequent years, where the image of that little green goblin popping out of a toilet mesmerized kids like me, who weren’t quite ready to rent horror movies, but were fascinated by the box art all the same.
Naturally, that same art was used on the gorgeous covers to these tapes!
As the pre-shipping retail price on these cassettes is thirteen bucks, you’re getting a pretty sweet deal, here – over half the value of the Funpack in one fell swoop, and there’s still plenty more left in the box!
Next up is a real curveball – and an oddball. From the late ‘90s, the Spookville Collection was a series of hefty beanbag-style dolls representing various monsters, and were sold as impulse items at Halloween-friendly stores.
They’re pretty rare, hella obscure, and there’s one in each of Dino Drac’s September Funpacks! You’ll get ONE of the three dolls shown: the Pumpkin Scarecrow, the Haunting Ghost, or the Gnarly Bat!
These porcelain-faced creeps will be shipped in baggies with a custom-made Spookville sticker on ‘em (not shown), and will certainly add flair to your seasonal decor! The three dolls are being distributed in roughly equal amounts, so no matter which you like best, you have a 1-in-3 chance. (Don’t worry, though – all three are amazing in their own nutty ways!)
Theyyyyy’re back! I managed to score some more packs of Reyauca’s wicked set of Monstruos album “stickers” from the ‘80s, with “stickers” in quotes because they actually aren’t adhesive, but were instead meant to be taped or glued into Panini-style albums.
The artwork on these packs, which were produced in Venezuela and never available in the States, is completely batshit in the best ways. Kind of evocative of the old Ghana horror movie posters. You’ll get three packs of Monstrous “stickers,” plus a doubly-rare pack from their little-seen Monstruosos set. So that’s FOUR packs in every Funpack, each containing 2-3 little stickers.
And then we have this PILE of stuff to round things out!
You’ll get this month’s exclusive 5×7” cardstock mini-poster and 2×2” sticker, representing a Telco Pumpkin Ghost and a Halloween McNugget Buddy.
Then there’s a tag team of terrifying snacks, including mini-bags of Nerds Spooky Gummy Clusters and Utz’s Halloween Cheese Balls!
You’ll also receive this month’s Funpack Newsletter, plus an exclusive essay naming some of the best “lost” aspects of our childhood Halloween seasons.
Finally, I’ll toss in a tiny tub of “Pumpkin Slime,” because why not? (Supplies are running low on those, though. New orders may receive a different-but-similar novelty item.)
So yep, you’ll get all of the above for $25 shipped!
United States only, please!
Subscribers: You’re all set, and your Funpacks are on the way! Please allow a little more time than usual for delivery, because like I mentioned in the intro, this month sucked!
For everyone else: I have just a few extras of the September Funpack available. You can buy one by clicking the button below!
Thanks all! I appreciate the extra patience this month, and remember, we still have one all-Halloween Funpack left to go!
