Vlog: Boglins Hand Puppets.

One thing I dig about Dino Drac is the chance to get even more mileage out of things I’ve already covered a hundred times. Yay for Boglins!

If you don’t remember them, Boglins were monstrous, rubber hand puppets that came out in the late ’80s, ready to rock our worlds with twirling arms and gaping mouths. While a much bigger deal overseas, they still had their day in the sun here, and even if it only lasted a few short months, the “Boglins Era” was among my favorite moments of kid life.

They came in many shapes and sizes, but “Bog-O-Bones” and “Blobkin” — a pair of special edition Halloween Boglins — were clearly the fan favorites. Or, you know, my favorites.

I liked Boglins enough to film a ten minute video about them.

Heh, “film.” I sound so pro.

I can’t remember who, but someone actually requested this as a vlog topic. Blame them.

Oh, and here’s the YouTube backup version. I’m being so stubborn on the Vimeo thing.

Ding ding ding! And the correct answer goes to Kingklash! Let’s see what you’ve won. You’ve won… NOTHING! STUPID! YOU SO STUPID!

  • Ultraman

Oh man, UHF is one of my favorite movies of all time. It’s just so, weird and unique. Not to mention hilarious. Weird Al is awesome!!!

  • drew do

I don’t get UHF…I have tried it a few times and each is worse than the last. It puzzles me that everyone else seems to love it.

Drew do: Have you tried getting drunk or high before watching it? That usually helps.

  • DrummerJay

Badgers? Badgers? We don’t need no stinking badgers!

  • kingklash

Never drunk nor high, but raised on actual UHF television.

  • Agent of Wolfram & Hart

Thank you Matt. I now know that to truly find happiness I must own Blobkin. He will be mine, oh yes, he will be mine

  • Catherine

I have to disagree with you here, Matt. I LOVE watermelon, it just tastes refreshing.

I do love those Boglins though, so adorable.

  • drew do

Rarely drunk, never high so it’s unlikely I will ever enjoy UHF I guess.

  • Nick M.

I love the vlogs, though I have to admit that after all this time, it’s still a little weird to see “normal” Matt. Also, I’m going to be disappointed if that trick-or-treat bag doesn’t make a reappearance come October.

Wow, this is the best vlog yet.
And it looks like I’m too late too use “vloglin”.

  • Doc Prop

This vlog is now my new favorite thing. The excitement when you re-discover the trick or treat sack is just awesome.

Matt, you know my insatiable love of the halloween Boglins, especially Blobkin, so I consider this loving post the best thing you have done in years.

The music, the watermelon carving, the puppet show…screw Christmas in July. Halloween in June is the best thing ever.

I miss my Boglin but I think he’s long gone…at least I know the cool cage box sure is. I had Vlobb and thought he was the coolest. The Blobkin has to be the coolest in the bunch though. You just don’t find these awesome kind of toys these days. Hopefully they make a return someday like My Pet Monster? I even hope they re-do My Pet Monster a third time since I missed out on both releases.

  • topher

Boglins are wonderful! I miss them!

  • Gaz

awesome, there’s torture behind the eyes, things you’ve seem man!

  • Terminal83

Your videos are hilarious. Good job.

I remember the kid next door tormenting his 5 year old brother with one of these.

People wonder why generation Y is so fucked up? Cause they’re the bastard spawn of sociopaths, that’s why!
