Worcus, a betrayer of secrets and thus an ally and enemy to all. To speak with Worcus, usually in a quest to find the secret weakness of one’s enemy or the coveted knowledge of the selfish, one must enter the caverns of Worcus. There are seven. In each successively deeper cavern, Worcus will appear from the darkness and tell you a progressively titillating part of the secret that is sought, while also transforming in appearance. Worcus will constantly remind the Cavern quester that at any time they can abort their goal and simply turn around and flee. The majority of those who attempt the Caverns of Worcus exit terrified without having ever reached the seventh Cavern yet satisfied with the knowledge gained in the upper levels.
7 – Some have claimed reaching the seventh Cavern but a claim against suspicion, derision, and doubt has no power.
1 – Others claim that Worcus is a simple creature capable of divination and there are no ‘Caverns’ only a shallow cave and nothing beyond. It’s all just a carnival affair surrounding a deformed creature.
A fantastic trick for the gullible and weak of mind.
3 – Although those who have ventured deeper claim to hear a constant shuffling and mumbling as if a large population of people were trapped living in the darkness. Quietly with resolve or in the grips of an inescapable hell. The rumors build everyday and no one can liberate the imaginary.
4- Many adhere to the theory that there are only three caverns from which to gain secret knowledge. If one advances to the fourth, despite Worcus’ encouragement to leave, they will be consumed or enslaved forever by Worcus as punishment for greed.
2 – Many report that in the second Cavern all fear dissapates and that the surrounding darkness feels warm.
5 – The only report of the fifth level was made by a Jeremy Pradath of Knorm, simply stating, “It becomes part of you.”
6 – Wizards speak of those entering the Caverns walking out with a singular glow, brief and pleasant in speech, and frequently visiting populated areas.
