Rented by: Penelope
Penelope never leaves her apartment, and it’s not by choice. Whatever happened to her here, keeps her here.
In retrospect, Penelope’s decision to pay upfront for a full year’s rent was unwise. Her landlord never had a reason to check up on her. To date, he still hasn’t.
An ethereal spirit who doesn’t seem conscious of what she is, visitors wouldn’t need to see Penelope’s ghost to know that something was amiss. The smell would tell them, very clearly. Indeed, somewhere in Penelope’s apartment must be her corpse. Her putrefying corpse, slowly losing its ability to make an autopsy worthwhile.
Why must you stay here, Penelope?
