Dino Drac After Dark

Survey night!

We haven’t had a survey in a while, so let’s skip the video tonight and do one of those!

(And if you’re thinking it’s because I got here too late to get a video ready… CORRECT!)

In the comments, name one thing you’ve already done to celebrate Halloween this year, and one thing you plan to do soon.

Now, I know it’s early September and nobody’s carving pumpkins yet, but it could be as simple as buying a scented candle, or looking at the masks in Party City. Or even just watching a spooky movie. Anything vaguely seasonal. Roll with it!

Zombies Ate My Neighbors!

Man, I just posted a new video on the main page and I am spent. On nights like these, I’m so thankful for all of your great After Dark suggestions! Here’s another one:

Here’s a playthrough of Zombies Ate My Neighbors, for the Super Nintendo. This one was pitched by Freezair, who has a lot to say about the subject!

“…a classic video game for the SNES/Genesis that’s all about HORROR MOVIE MONSTERS! It’s brutally hard, but this guy breezes through it like it ain’t no thing!

“Unfortunately, this speedrun misses out on one of the best parts of the game — that being that the enemies in the game are weak to their classical weaknesses! Werewolves are killed quickly by silverware, for instance. Here’s a much longer video that showcases more of that.

“Bonus: One player uses the female character while another uses the male character, so you get to see both their totally radical 90’s looks.”

GREAT pick tonight. I’m a sucker for playthroughs (weirdly relaxing, in their way), but I’m an especially big sucker for playthroughs that double as horror movies.

PS: Just an early warning that there probably won’t be a main page post tomorrow, as I’m prepping for our next podcast and it’s gonna be a long one. After Dark will still be updated, though!

Garfield: Ghost of a Change!

Here’s a neat pick from LBD “Nytetrayn” that will only take a teensy bit of time to devour!

LBD adds: “I think you might have covered the Garfield Halloween Special before; if so, there is an episode of Garfield and Friends with a ghost theme — one of which is voiced by James Earl Jones, no less!”

He’s right about me having covered Garfield’s official Halloween special (several thousand times, actually), but I’d completely forgotten about this little gem from the regular series.

It isn’t exactly Halloween-themed, but it still so completely is.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow! (1980)

I got a bunch of great video suggestions from my longtime pal Jugendsehnsucht, and they’re almost as interesting as he is!

Here’s one of them: The 1980 broadcast of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, starring Jeff Goddamned Goldblum as Ichabod Crane!

I can’t imagine that anyone needs another selling point, but just in case, I’ll mention that this video includes all of the original commercials.

(And yeah, if you didn’t know, this was a made-for-TV movie. In a nice touch, it actually aired on Halloween night!)
