Dino Drac After Dark

Random ’80s Commercials!

Sometimes I only have a minute to update Dino Drac After Dark, so it’s a good thing I’ll never run out of YouTube commercial compilations to swipe:

This one includes a whole bunch of ads from the last half of the ’80s. Judging by the products, I’m gonna guess that these ran during daytime soaps and gameshows.

Weird Video Game Playthroughs!

Here are playthroughs of two of my favorite old school video games, chosen specifically because they’re also two of the weirdest:

Stinger (Nintendo Entertainment System)

Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars (Sega Master System)

In Stinger, pay particular attention to the level bosses — so odd, but so great.

Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars is berserk from start to finish, but if I had to pick one standout moment, it’s when Alex has to survive against an army of naked boys who shoot monsters out of their bare asses.

Both are legitimately great games if you’re looking for something new (old) to try!

Sleep Paralysis. :O

If you’ve never experienced sleep paralysis and have been skeptical about the stories…. THEY’RE TRUE.

I know this because it happened to me. Just one time, fortunately.

It was several years ago. At that point, I had no idea what sleep paralysis was. I guess I had to have heard the term, but I certainly had no idea that what I experienced was in any way something that other people had ever experienced in such a similar way.

I wasn’t “influenced” by anyone else’s stories because I’d plainly never heard them.

I guess I could best describe it as a waking nightmare. I’d fallen asleep on the couch in our living room, and when I “woke up,” I couldn’t move. AT ALL.

My eyes were open and I was able to process what I was seeing, which regrettably was a goddamned SHADOW DEMON as tall as the ceiling.

The implication was that this monster was coming for me, and I couldn’t do a thing about it. I tried to simply turn my head towards the monster, somehow believing that that was the way to “defeat” it.

I couldn’t do it. Trying to turn my head felt like I was trying to lift a car. Whenever I tried, I’d hear horrible synthy sound effects that sounded like electronic screams.

God knows how long the dream really lasted, but it sure felt like minutes, and only ended when I successfully managed to turn my head sideways — which finally snapped me back to reality.

I told this story online and several people immediately recognized it as sleep paralysis. Whatever skepticism I had vanished once I saw the countless stories about people having the exact same experience with the exact same sort of monster and the exact same nuances.

Our brains are so freakin’ weird, guys.

Anyway, I haven’t yet watched this video about sleep paralysis, but it has over 11k likes on YouTube, so it must be okay!
