Dino Drac After Dark

Oh That Soothing Ocean.

I’ve run a few of those “soothing sounds” videos on Dino Drac After Dark before, but here’s one that’s more appropriate for summertime:

Ocean waves crashing at night. Yesssss.

I don’t know why I don’t play these videos more often. Totally love them, and they really do making relaxing easier.

Tonight’s survey:

None.

Let’s try something different: A free-for-all Friday thread! Talk about whatever you want. Tell everyone the highlight of your week, wonder aloud what Jelly Donut Oreos taste like, compare notes on that new Friday the 13th game… WHATEVER.

(I figured this was worth a shot. A pretty awesome crew rolls through here, so who knows, maybe this can become a weekly thing. If not, at least I didn’t have to think hard for one night.)

Hellraiser: The Infomercial?

Tonight’s video will scare you to death. Or at least make you want a Hellraiser baseball cap.

Get a load of the Hellraiser Watch & Wear infomercial, a bizarre-but-real 1988 promo for various Hellraiser merchandise. This was added to certain releases of the videocassette, and BOY is it something.

It’s amazing that they tried to peddle any Hellraiser merch at all, but the merch on display here was plain outrageous. Hellraiser sweatpants?!

Attack of the 50 Ft. Monster Mania!

I shoulda saved this one for the Halloween season, but whatever. Here’s Attack of the 50 Ft. Monster Mania, a monster movie doc that premiered on AMC back in ‘99:

It covers a LOT of ground, and in particular some very old ground. A documentary about scary movie monsters is my favorite kind of background noise.

If you don’t have time for this one tonight, bookmark it for later. It’s so worth watching. Pleasant, breezy, informative and spooky — it hits all the right notes.

Batman 1989 News Reports!

Here’s a cool collection of news reports from 1989, all about Tim Burton’s Batman:

If you’re too young to remember the Batman blitz, MY GOD was it huge. You can’t compare it to today’s movies, because it went so far beyond financials and praise. If you were a kid in ‘89, your whole life practically revolved around Batman. It just did.

PS: Me and Jay covered Batman 1989 in one of my favorite Purple Stuff episodes, so after you’re done with this, go listen to that!
