Star Wars on Sesame Street!

Thursday marked the 40th anniversary of Star Wars. To celebrate, here’s C-3PO and R2-D2 on Sesame Street:

(No, really.)

The episode premiered in 1980, and canonically put R2 and Big Bird in the same universe. I can dig that.

Enjoy!

The Y2K Crisis!

I just wrote and published a giant article on the main site, so all I have left at this point are typos and word fragments. We’ll be keeping this brief!

Here’s The Y2K Crisis, a direct-to-video deal from — duh — 1999.

It’s slightly less ridiculous than similar Y2K cash-grabs, but it makes up for whatever small lack of exploitative drama by being hosted BY ROBERT STACK.

Enjoy! I’m gonna go eat ramen or something.

1980s UFO Documentary!

I’d be down to watch random UFO documentaries and nothing else for the rest of my life, but I must admit that the current crop is pretty weak.

I guess that’s because so much “UFO stuff” is obvious bullshit through today’s lens, so the newer docs leave out most of the juicier (falser) accounts. Plus, in the era of smartphones with killer cameras, shoddy UFO footage is harder to defend.

If anything, I’m far more likely to dig up a super old UFO doc, even if it’s full of provably false stories and laughingly obsolete suggestions.

…I don’t know if The UFO Experience: A Scientific Inquiry fits that bill, but since it came out in the ‘80s, at least it has a shot.

(I feel it’s only right to watch old UFO docs in 4×3 with grainy picture and raspy sound.)

Enjoy!

Vintage WDW Videos!

If you’ve ever stayed at one of Disney’s hotels in or near the parks, you should be aware of those endlessly looping videos that gush about the various attractions and amenities.

Here’s the 1987 version of those videos, made specifically for Walt Disney World.

Sooo much nostalgia buried in this one, guys. Things we now consider “antique” are treated as fresh and new, and there’s all sorts of stuff that WDW dropped years ago.

Love it.

We’ll skip the formal surveys for tonight, but if you wanna chat about old-and-new Disney park junk, have at it!
