Dino Drac After Dark

The Making of TMNT!

Here’s Behind the Shells, a fun little documentary detailing the making of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Meaning the live action movie from 1990. Which I love to death.

I saw TMNT in theaters, and to this day, I’ve never seen a longer line to get into a movie. It stretched so far away from the theater that those on the end weren’t even in the parking lot. Course, this was back before theaters discovered different ways to curb that particular problem.

PS: We ate pizza right after. Of course.

Silver Surfer!

Remember that old Seinfeld bit where George brags about his ability to grow on women, even if they initially dislike him? That’s the situation I had with the Silver Surfer animated series, from 1998.

At first, I thought it was irritatingly slow and maybe even outright boring, but over time, I really got into the series and appreciated how unique it was. It almost felt like a throwback to the era of those ancient Superman shorts.

Below are the first two eps. If they pique your interest, the rest of ’em are on YouTube. (The show only lasted for one season, so if you decide to binge, it won’t take long!)

Enjoy!

Dino-Riders!

Well, since I just finished writing about the scariest shit ever, I’ll try to keep it light tonight. Halfway light.

Here’s the first episode of Dino-Riders, from 1988:

Produced to sneakily advertise the same-named line of toys, Dino-Riders was fabulously creative. (Actually, the fact that there are dinosaurs dressed like RoboCop isn’t even the weirdest thing about the series!)

Enjoy.

Monsters of the Deep!

Here’s Monsters of the Deep, a National Geographic documentary that investigates the possible existence of fantastically enormous sea creatures.

(FYI, this is one of my favorite subjects.)

great thumbnail. 😕

There are a million of these docs and they all blend together after a while, so I have no idea if I’ve seen this one before. While I’ve sadly had to let go of any lingering notions that there ever was a Nessie, the ocean depths still hide plenty, and I for one continue to hold out hope for a real life version of Cloverfield.
