The Facts of Life Reunion!
Literally not one of you is gonna watch this, but you all should!
It’s The Facts of Life Reunion, a TV movie from 2001. I felt okay about featuring it here, since it’s set around Thanksgiving. Thanks for making a turkey, Mrs. G.
Confession: I’ve never seen this. I have seen the two Facts of Life TV movies that preceded it, but both of them debuted when the show was still in production. So I’m not really sure what we’re in for, here. (Other than the fact that Jo isn’t in it? Fuck that!)
I was a big fan of the series, and I still feel weirdly protective of the cast. Like I have an irrational need for them to do well and be well. (Hell, Natalie is practically the only celebrity I follow on Twitter. And I’m sure she’d love being referred to as “Natalie.”)
If you don’t want to watch it, FINE. I’ll give you a survey, too:
In the comments, tell me and everyone else about your preferred version of THANKSGIVING STUFFING. What’s in it?
A Family Circus Christmas!
Oh yeah, it’s true, this happened.
A Family Circus Christmas. Yes, an animated special based on the comic strip. It’s from 1979, much like me.
Garfield’s Thanksgiving!
Garfield’s Thanksgiving is probably the least loved of the fat cat’s holiday specials, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad… more just that his Halloween and Christmas specials are so good!
Released in 1989, I concede that it has a pretty weak plot, and feels more like a rough-around-the-edges short from Garfield and Friends than a major primetime network special.
Still, all must be forgiven, because Garfield’s Thanksgiving features the return of your queen and mine, Grandma Arbuckle. (Remember, without her, Garf’s Xmas special would’ve just been “another cartoon.”)
Enjoy!
Q*Bert’s Thanksgiving!
Believe it or not, there’s a Thanksgiving cartoon starring Q*Bert. Yes, Q*Bert, that fuzzy orange alien thing with the big nose.
Q*Bert’s cartoon shorts were part of Saturday Supercade, an early ’80s animated series that collected many of the era’s popular video game characters. (The one people knew from arcades and the Atari, as this was even before Nintendo was a household name!)
Good luck with this one. By default, any Thanksgiving special starring Q*BERT must be the weirdest of all time.
