Dino Drac After Dark

This House Possessed!

I’m a sucker for spooky old TV movies, so while I’ve never seen This House Possessed, I’m pretty sure it’s gonna go in the Win column.

Released in 1981, the description on the YouTube video suggests that it’s a film about a house that causes people to die in strange ways. I don’t know about you, but I’m sold.

Fun fact: This House Possessed premiered on February 6th, 1981… which was my third birthday!

Bunnicula, The Vampire Rabbit

Hmm, this looks promising.

Bunnicula, The Vampire Rabbit is an animated special from 1982, and the title doesn’t lie: It really IS about a vampire rabbit.

(…albeit one who only sucks vegetable juice.)

I’m not an expert on Bunnicula lore, but I assume the series of books is way more famous than this mostly-forgotten TV special. Kinda excited to check it out. Join me.

The Horror Hall of Fame!

This one’s a real treat. The Horror Hall of Fame was an awards show that ran for three years beginning in 1990. Here’s the first edition:

Hosted by Robert Englund, it’s cheesy as hell but still super freakin’ good. While obviously more attractive to diehard fans, these specials had a sort of “gateway drug” appeal. I wouldn’t doubt that they turned more than a few folks onto the genre simply by treating it with such whimsy and love.

Bonus points: You’ll see the Crypt Keeper in some custom segments!

Spaced Invaders!

Bit of a weird one for you, tonight. I doubt that Spaced Invaders has appeared on many Halloween playlists, but I feel like it sorta fits?

Full disclosure: I haven’t seen Spaced Invaders in over 20 years, so my memories are pretty sketchy. I do remember me and my friends losing our shit over certain lines, though, back when the film was constantly on cable.

The movie came out in 1990, and if you’ve never heard of it, it’s a sci-fi comedy about funny space aliens who kind of straddle the line between the Ninja Turtles and ALF.
