Dino Drac After Dark

Sounds of the Haunted House!

Day 2 of Computer Wars has concluded. The old one was fixable, but it ended up making more sense to just buy a new one. So now I’m broke, but armed with NEW TECHNOLOGY. Setting it up tomorrow, so here’s an easy one for tonight:

It’s Disney’s Chilling, Thrilling Sounds of the Haunted House, a pretty famous LP album from 1964. Dim the lights, hit play, and marvel at how something made for kids in the 1960s can still kinda sorta terrify adults in the 2010s. Love this!

Disney’s Trick or Treat!

Wellp, my computer died about an hour ago. I knew it was coming, but this is gonna suuuuck. Tomorrow I’ll find out if I can grab my files and programs from the old one before dropping it into the sea. Even if I can, I’m in for a shitty weekend of system rebuilding. The only bright side is that I’ll probably have a new computer by the end of tomorrow, wallet be damned. New computers are fun, at least?

I’m using a super flaky older computer to get this post up, which is just a stopgap measure because this machine can’t even handle Photoshop, let alone any of the tougher programs I use. So yeah it looks like it’s tequila tonight, folks!

All that trouble definitely called for something cheerful, so here’s Trick or Treat, a pretty famous Disney short from 1952. Starring Donald and his nephews (always a plus in my book), I believe it’s one of the very few Disney shorts that tackled Halloween in an on-the-nose way. (I could name several Disney shorts with a horror theme, but honestly couldn’t name another that was outright about Halloween. Granted, my brain’s on the fritz at this precise moment.)

I have a “main site” post in the queue, which was half-written before the comp went kaput. Thankfully, the draft is saved online, so I’ll be able to get that up tomorrow no matter what happens with the computer. I’ll also still be able to update Dino Drac After Dark, because hey, it’s easy enough to embed a YouTube video!

Hope your weekend goes more smoothly than mine’s gonna!

Old Chief Wood’nhead!

The Raft may be the fan favorite of the stories told in 1987’s Creepshow 2, but I’m even fonder of Old Chief Wood’nhead:

Synopsis: A couple of punks murder an elderly couple, and a goddamned cigar store Indian seeks revenge.

It may actually be my favorite segment from any anthology film. (It’s at least tied with Lover’s Vow from Tales From The Darkside: The Movie.)

Enjoy!

Sightings: Ghost Episode!

Oooh yeah, this is the good stuff. A ghost-themed episode of Sightings!

As I’ve mentioned before, Sightings was the poor man’s Unsolved Mysteries, but that occasionally worked to its advantage. Robert Stack’s crew would only let themselves be exploitative and trashy to a certain degree, but Sightings never really found its bottom. So long as it made the show more entertaining, in it went!

I’m currently trying to fight off something that feels like a fever but isn’t quite a fever, and by “fight off” I of course mean “wallow within.” Dim lights, cozy couch, way too many blankets, and that little space heater that will someday set fire to my apartment. A ghost-themed episode of Sightings is gonna work sooo well with that shit.
