By the time most of you see this, it’ll be October! Let’s make it count!
Here’s a pair of videos collecting all of the commercial breaks from two different airings of It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. They’re not really Halloweeny, but when you picture them sandwiched between scenes about rocks and Red Barons, I think they’ll put you in a spooky mood all the same.

Marc Summers’ Mystery Magical Special!
Happy Saturday! I’m off to work on my Halloween Mood Table, because as per tradition, I need to share with ya no later than Monday. Before I go, here’s tonight’s vid:
Suggested by MightyThirstyPirate, it’s Marc Summers’ Mystery Magical Special, a fairly famous Halloween TV special that aired on Nickelodeon back in ’86. (Yes, that’s Marc Summers as in Double Dare Marc Summers.)
From MightyThirstyPirate: “I remember catching this on TV, they really hyped it up as a big event. Marc Summers and some kids go to a haunted house and… there’s magic tricks. Special cameo by John Astin, the original Gomez Addams. Go ahead and watch it, I Double Dare you!”
Enjoy! It may take some patience to get into if you’re not big on old school Nick nostalgia, but this special does have a following!
’70s and ’80s Halloween Commercials!
Oof, this is it! The final Friday before OCTOBER! If you’ve been slouching on the Halloween front, it’s time to pick up the pace, ace. I always forget how quickly this season flies by!
Since this is a special Friday, here’s an extra-special video. Suggested by Dan Nations, it’s a compilation of Halloween commercials from the ’70s and ’80s.
Now, I know what you’re thinking. I’m always running old TV spots on After Dark… how different could this be? Trust me on this one, guys. It’s probably the best compilation of Halloween ads on YouTube, with some real rarities in the mix.
Some thoughts from Dan: “We have vintage McDonald’s commercials, Halloween II promos, Creepshow, Children of the Corn, Paas makeup commercials, vintage Toys ‘R’ Us, Vincent Price repping Diet Coke, the Tall Man from Phantasm hocking Fangoria, more Vincent Price telling us about the wonders of Polaroid VHS. It’s nostalgia overload!”
