Dino Drac After Dark

Dinosaur!

Tonight’s pick was influenced by Fallen Kingdom, which I saw a few hours ago and LOVED.

Holy shit, with all of the bad reviews I’d seen hints of, I was NOT expecting to enjoy that movie so much. It’s dark and weird and sad and almost gothic, and like I said on Twitter earlier, it’s basically Jurassic Park by way of Tales from the Darkside. If you’re into the same stuff as me, you should dig it.

Now get set for Dinosaur! (Yes, the exclamation point is part of the title.)

Hosted by Christopher Reeve, this dinosaur documentary premiered on CBS in November of ’85. I probably love outdated dino docs even more than the current ones, so I’m expecting to enjoy this.

Random SNES Playthroughs!

I love watching video game playthroughs.

Well, “watching” might not be the right word. I just like having them on in the background while I’m cleaning my office or writing lists or trying to find old Reese’s Pieces ads from the back pages of 1980s comic books.

Below are 3 SNES playthroughs. Enjoy them however you see fit.

STONE PROTECTORS

FAMILY FEUD

PAC-MAN 2

PS: I’ve never played any of these games. Partly why I picked ’em!

Poison Ivy!

I’ve gotten some excellent After Dark video suggestions to carry us through Cruel Summer, including this one, from Ginyu Recoome:

Poison Ivy is a made-for-television movie from 1985. This is the original broadcast from February of that year, complete with a ton of ancient commercials.

The film stars Michael J. Fox and Nancy McKeon (YES!) as a pair of teenage camp counselors. I’m not sure that I’d ever even heard of it before tonight, but between the cast and the promise of old Coke commercials, count me in!

Slash & Burn!

Ooh, this sounds promising. Get set for Slash & Burn, a 1991 documentary about the Nightmare on Elm Street series.

I haven’t watched a drop of it yet, but I’m sure it’s worth it if you’re into Freddy!

PS: What IS your favorite Elm Street movie? Tell us, in the comments!
