Dino Drac After Dark

Universal Horror Doc!

Tonight’s suggestion comes from the awesome vhslvy. If you’re in for a long night, it’s just what you need:

Check out Universal Horror, a horror movie documentary with a particular emphasis on the early Universal monster movies. From what I’ve been able to piece together, this premiered as a TV doc back in ’98.

Before you start watching this, make some tea. It just seems like such a “tea” doc.

Misfits Concert!

Happy Friday, guys! If you missed it, I just posted a new video, and I can’t believe I got that one done today. Definitely did not seem likely, but I’m glad to end the week on a good note. (I need to spruce up the post that goes with it, but that can wait until tomorrow.)

Tonight’s video was suggested by Mike M., and I think it’ll be great background noise for what’s essentially a Free-For-All Thread.

It’s a Misfits concert from 1999. Take it away, Mike:

“Not your typical Dino Drac After Dark fare, but I love a good horror-themed concert as we draw closer to 10/31.  I took my brother to see Rob Zombie last year at the beginning of October, and it set the tone for the entire month.  This is the Misfits from a show in Pittsburgh, just days after Halloween ’99.  I was there. Gwar played too. I left with my shirt ripped off and I was covered in fake blood and urine.  It was a good time, obviously.”

Enjoy!

Commercials from ’82!

Here’s a lovely (but not very Halloweeny) batch of TV commercials from 1982

These all aired on ABC on 10/17/82. There isn’t much in the way of spooky ads, though the vid does kick off with a killer TV spot for Halloween III. Come for that, but stay for the McDonald’s commercial that apparently introduced the world to Chicken McNuggets? Nice.

This is Horror!

This one seems too good for a Wednesday night, but whatever, ya only live once.

Suggested by Jugendsehnsucht, here’s MTV Presents: This is Horror!

I’ll let Juge tell you about it: “A special on the genre shown on MTV, featuring numerous interviews with people like like Wes Craven, Stephen King, and Brian Yuzna. Includes original commercials from the 1991 broadcast.”

So yeah, even if you’re not interested in an old horror doc with MTV flavoring, you should at least enjoy the old school commercials.

Looooove stuff like this. If you don’t have time for it tonight, make a mental note!
