Dino Drac’s Eerie August Funpack – the first of three all-spooky Funpacks for the 2025 Halloween season – is here!
This one is LOADED with all sorts of creepy treasures – everything from old toys to old cards to old stickers to old Ghoul-Aid. (Yes, you read that right.)
Here’s the scoop: All subscriber boxes have already shipped as of last weekend, and are either on the way or already delivered. As of this writing, I have *very* few spares leftover for any non-subscribers who want one.
If you’d like to get one, send me an email, and if I have any left I’ll send you the deets. As always, they’re $25, and that includes shipping to anywhere in the United States. UPDATE: Sorry, they are now sold out!
Now, let’s see what’s in the box!
First up, you’ll each receive a genuine vintage packet of Kool-Aid’s spookiest flavor ever… the almighty GHOUL-AID!
These packets are from 1996, and feature a gothed-out Kool-Aid Man pleased as punch about his then-new “Scary Blackberry” flavor. Now nearing thirty years of age, the packets are obviously for collectible use only and NOT meant for you to drink!
Each comes bagged in super cool custom packaging, to further dissuade anyone from actually opening the things. I’ve been writing about this legendary flavor since 2003, so this is a full-circle moment for me. SO thrilled to share these with you!
Child’s Play 2 is one of my favorite horror movies, and in many ways was the film that made me an outright horror fan. You’ll each receive one of these Child’s Play 2 promotional bumper stickers, from 1990, which were originally sent to video stores to help drum up interest in rentals.
These are true vintage stickers – NOT repros. They’re super glossy, around nine inches long, and in perfect condition. “Back off, Jack… Chucky’s back!”
Next up, you’ll each receive ONE of these vintage Flying Things foam gliders, featuring all sorts of monsters and nonsense. If I have my history right, the original version of these were released by Topps in the ‘60s, and then some other company bought the rights for a revamp in the 1990s.
These versions are from that ‘90s resurgence, but they’re still pretty rare! There are at least ten different kits in the set, with gliders ranging from the “Flying Skeleton” to the “Flying Hot Dog.” I’d say that about half of them represent some type of monster, while the other half are even odder things, like a “Flying Hammer and Nails.”
Do keep in mind that these are very old and made of cheap foam. I can’t make any guarantees about how well that foam has held up over the decades, but the few I checked looked okay! Each will be shipped in a bubble bag for extra protection, too!
Then we have a pair of vintage card packs that have some arguable tie to the season, including a pack of MegaMetal cards (1991), and a hard-to-find pack of Weird-Ohs cards (2007).
Joining them are a few super vintage packs of Reyauca’s “Terror” stickers, made in Venezuela in the 1980s. These actually aren’t stickers, but rather sticker-lookalikes that were meant to be taped into Panini-style sticker albums. Weird and cheaply made, but also very interesting!
What’s a Halloween season without some Halloween candy? Each of you will get a new-for-2025 package of Ghoul-Aid Popping Candy, each containing three individual packets of “zom-berry” flavored off-brand Pop Rocks. (Unlike the other Ghoul-Aid in this Funpack, these are safe to eat!)
Joining that is a big ass tube of Sour Viper Blast liquid spray candy, which essentially works like sour, candy-flavored Binaca. There are a few flavors in the mix; you’ll receive one at random. (These tubes are pretty expensive, but since this was really the only Funpack where they’d ever fit, I decided to throw you a bone. If you could consider “tube of stuff that tastes like stinging cherries” a bone.)
Rounding things out, you’ll get this month’s 5×7” cardstock mini-poster, featuring a scan of my super rare Vampire’s Deadly Secret ice pop wrapper from the 1990s, plus this month’s 2×2” sticker, celebrating old horror movies on the USA Network.
Joining that is this month’s Funpack Newsletter, plus an exclusive essay that will never be reprinted on the site. (This month’s essay is about how I rediscovered Boo Berry back in the ‘90s at a weird grocery store in the Poconos. Just roll with it.)
So yep, you’ll get everything above, shipped straight to your door for $25! (Shipping costs included!)
If you’re already a subscriber, your Funpack is already on the way!
If you’re not a subscriber but still want this Funpack, send me an email, and if I have any left, I’ll send you a special link to order one. Email me at dinosaurdracula on gmail. Please keep in mind that I have VERY few left. By the time most of you read this, they will likely be gone! UPDATE: Sorry, they are now sold out!
Thanks so much, all! I work hard to make sure the triple dose of Halloween Funpacks are extra special every year, and this is just the first of them. There’s more haunted fun coming in September and October!
