I don’t believe we’ve run this version from 1977 before, but even if we have, it’s worth watching twice!
Scream Until You Like It!
Just a shorty for tonight, as it’s all any of us have time for!
It’s hard to believe, but there was a legit Ghoulies II music video that got actual play on MTV. From 1987, here’s W.A.S.P. with Scream Until You Like It, an EXTREMELY LOUD SONG. The video is phenomenal. Aside from working in footage from Ghoulies II, there are also shots of the band members fiddling around with the creatures. If you wanna know more about this nonsense, I wrote an article about the video last year.
Oh, PS: If you’ve still never seen any of the Ghoulies movies, start with Ghoulies II. It’s the best one, and also the one that will most accurately match up with whatever you’ve imagined those movies to be about.
Plan 9 from Outer Space!
Many of you have experienced Plan 9 from Outer Space before, but have you ever seen the COLORIZED version?
Full disclosure: I’m not sure if it this was an official release or just a fan edit, but either way, it works. The fact that the colorization is a little “off” suits the film, too. This is, of course, one of the most famously bad movies of all time — but that doesn’t mean it’s without its charms!
I first saw this film in my very early 20s. I was on a “date,” which I’m putting in quotes because it was more like me and a female friend having a phony date, as we both knew we could only remain compatible for a few hours once every six months, and spent our remaining time kibitzing about our real personal lives via instant message. (Yeah, instant message. This was the early 2000s.)
Anyway, that’s how I’ve come to associate Plan 9 with cheap boxed wine and awkward make-out sessions.
