Okay, it’s time to unleash the January 2026 Funpack! We’re starting the new year strong with a key item that literally nobody who reads this site wouldn’t want, but we’ll get to that in a minute!
Official subscriptions are currently maxed out, and all subscriber boxes have already been shipped. I have a small number of extras to sell on an individual basis, so if you’re interested, zip to the bottom to see if there are any left! (As always, the price is $25, and that includes shipping to anywhere in the States!)
The January Funpack is exactly what you need for a cozy night on the couch while you’re avoiding the winter chill. Namely, loads of McDonald’s nostalgia and plenty of junk food! Let’s dive in…
The unquestionable star of this month’s box? You’ll each receive ONE of these genuine McDonald’s McNugget Buddies Happy Meal toys, from their debut series way back in 1988!
Um, wow. So for those who didn’t know, the first set of McNugget Buddies were NOT Halloween-themed. In that series, McDonald’s just gave a bunch of anthropomorphic McNuggets random occupations, complete with removable outfits.
You’ll get ONE of those original toys, still sealed in its original Happy Meal baggie, and for extra nostalgia points, I’m stuffing each into a genuine McDonald’s paper baggie from the 1990s. (Slightly anachronistic since the toys came out in the ‘80s, but I didn’t think you’d mind!)
You’ll each get one sealed McNugget Buddy, and I have three different in the mix: First Class McNugget, Snorkel McNugget, or Boomerang McNugget.
Please note that while the toys obviously haven’t been used, the bags vary in condition, and some have pretty severe rub-wear from being trapped in a box together for nearly FORTY years. (Tl;dr: Expect a great-looking McNugget Buddy, but not necessarily a great-looking plastic baggie.)
As far as Happy Meal toys go, these are legitimate all-timers. It doesn’t get much better than the first-ever McNugget Buddies set, and I’m so thrilled to share ‘em with you!
Next up is this generous pile of snacks, which should be enough to stuff you silly for at least one movie night.
Included is a Reese’s PB&J Strawberry Big Cup, which adds a thin layer of strawberry jelly to an oversized peanut butter cup. Then there’s a pouch of Mini Mini Chicles gum, which in every way is a tribute to the long-discontinued Tiny Size Chiclets.
And hell, I’ll even throw in a packet of Planters Salted Peanuts, which is practically health food by comparison. Enjoy!
Next up is a trio of vintage trading card packs!
All subscriber boxes will receive the exact three packs shown above, which includes The Hollywood Walk of Fame (1991), Star Trek: The Next Generation (1992), and The Little Mermaid (1991).
For the few extras that remain, your three packs will likely have (still vintage) substitutions, as I’m running low on these other packs. But even if so, definitely count on a trio of some really old trading cards to ogle!
And now, a lightning round!
You’ll each get a double-shot of McDonald’s artwork, including a 5×7” cardstock mini-poster of Grimace from back when he still was a four-armed villain, AND, to complement your new/old Happy Meal toy, you’ll also get a 6×6” cardstock repro of the original McD’s McNuggets Buddies sign from 1988, which once hung in the restaurants!
And let’s tack on this month’s Funpack Newsletter, a 2×2” sticker of an old Tomy Omnibot, and an exclusive essay that will never be reprinted on the site! (This month’s essay is about a dying mall in New Jersey that I used to visit regularly.)
So yep, you’ll get all of the above for $25, shipped to anywhere in the United States! (I cannot ship internationally, sorry!)
If you’re already a subscriber and you wanna stay that way, do nothing! You’re all set!
If you’re not an active subscriber but still want the January Funpack, you can purchase one by clicking the button below. Supplies are very limited, and once they’re gone, they’re gone for good!
