I’m late as hell in posting this here January Funpack, but the good news is that all subscriber boxes have already been shipped, and many have already been delivered! If you’re on the list and you haven’t received it yet, be on the lookout in the coming days!
As for everyone else, I only have a couple of spares that I can offer on an individual basis. Too few to leave up an open link, but if you want one, shoot me an email (dinosaurdracula at gmail) and I’ll get back to you if there are any left!
The January 2025 Funpack starts the new year in style, and includes a particular item that I’ve been trying to work into these boxes for years. Very excited to share this one with you! Keep reading to learn about everything in this month’s pack…
First up, you’ll each receive a Star Wars Spirit of Obi-Wan action figure, from 1997! I’ve been cultivating this inclusion for about as long as the Funpacks have existed, and I’m elated that the month is finally here!
Made by Hasbro, these figures were only available through a special mail-away offer from Frito-Lay. You had to collect proofs-of-purchase from a couple of bags of potato chips, mail them in with a bit of cash, and then wait several months for your “Sparkle Crest Ben” figure to arrive. These were a BIG deal in 1997!
Your Spirit of Obi-Wan figure will arrive in never-touched condition, still in its plastic baggie inside its original white mailer box. Please note that the cheap strips of tape on those mailer boxes have disintegrated with age, leaving some tape residue behind. The figures inside are still in gem mint condition, though – as shiny and clean as they were back in 1997!
Next up, you’ll each receive an Ugly Dolls “Artist Series” blind box, containing a super-cute Ugly Dolls plush doll. These are from more recent years. I don’t know a whole lot about Ugly Dolls lore, but I know adorable monsters when I see them, and these are definitely those.
There are a whole bunch of Ugly Dolls characters in the mix, in various colors and shapes, with weird appendages and odd numbers of eyeballs. No matter which one you get, I’m confident that you’ll immediately fall in love.
The dolls are around five inches tall, and have never been touched. Your blind boxes will arrive in sealed condition. Some of the plastic hangers are a bit bent, but since they came out the factory case that way, that’s really just how they were made. The dolls, of course, are in pristine condition!
The Ugly Doll shown here is just an example. There are many in the mix. You’ll get one at random!
Next up, you’ll get ONE of these super cool and very vintage SilverHawks patches, which as I understand it were given away as vending machine prizes in the 1980s.
I have two different patches in the mix – you’ll either receive the one with Quicksilver, or the longer version that just has the logo. These are the “cheap” kind of patches with the adhesive backs, so I prefer to simply think of them as oversized fuzzy stickers. Miraculously, despite their advanced age, they still stick perfectly well!
PS: Don’t remember SilverHawks? Here’s a refresher.
For this month’s snack, I thought I’d take advantage of the colder weather and send ya another candy bar. (Not something I can send during the summer months… I learned that lesson the hard way!)
You’ll each receive a full-sized PayDay candy bar – a delicious caramel-and-peanut monstrosity that you’re all perfectly aware of, even if you never actually ate one. Well, it’s time to finally see what all of the fuss was about in those old TV commercials.
I’ve sampled one, and I can confirm that they are delicious, and will make you feel full enough to skip 3 or 4 meals.
This month’s 5×7” cardstock mini-poster reproduces an old, slick print ad for 7UP soda, featuring the original version, Cherry 7UP, and the long-discontinued 7UP Gold. Love those vintage label designs!
The poster is joined by this month’s exclusive 2×2” sticker, featuring a scan of a Ninja Turtle action figure pulled from some old Toys “R” Us circular. May it bless the front of your next marble notebook.
Rounding things out, you’ll also receive this month’s Funpack Newsletter, an exclusive essay, and a pair of vintage Beetlejuice Valentine’s Day stickers!
(This month’s essay is about my childhood experiences with the Sega Master System, a console that isn’t often celebrated these days, but still ruled!)
So yep, you’ll get everything mentioned above for $25, shipped to anywhere in the United States!
Subscribers: Your boxes are already on the way! All should arrive before January’s over, so keep an eye on your mailbox if you didn’t get it yet!
Everyone else: I only have a few left. If you’d like one, send me an email (dinosaurdracula on gmail), and if I have any left, I’ll hook you up with a link to purchase it.
Thanks all! So much great stuff coming in 2025… excited to show you what’s next!
