Dino Drac’s November Funpack is here, and actually, if you’re a subscriber, you might already have it! All subscriber boxes have been shipped, because this month’s box is time-sensitive and I wanted to make sure they all got there before the parade!
As is tradition, the November Funpack is all about the holidays. If you’re not a subscriber and you still want this box, I have a *very* limited number of spares that I can offer on an individual basis. They’re $25, and that includes shipping to anywhere in the United States. Jump to the bottom to order, or keep reading to learn about everything in this month’s box!
Longtime subscribers probably expected this! For the umpteenth time, I’m helping you recreate Snoopy’s wonky feast with my patented Charlie Brown Thanksgiving Snack Pack! This’ll give you everything you need to dine like the Peanuts gang did in the classic animated special from 1973.
Every year, I try to mix up the ingredients a little, while still staying faithful to the special. Each Snack Pack contains a mini-bag of microwave popcorn, a delicious and super nostalgic box of Bachman’s Pretzel Stix, a teensy tiny pack of Jelly Belly Jelly Beans, and then, the pièce de résistance: To satisfy Snoopy’s “toast” and “strawberry ice cream sundae” courses all in one shot, you’ll each receive a full box of Strawberry Cream Pocky!
(Honestly, that Pocky is such a perfect midpoint between toast and strawberry ice cream, I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to think of it!)
Spread it all out on a paper plate, pop in the old cartoon, and eat along with Charlie Brown!
Next up, you’ll each receive ONE of these extremely rare McDonald’s Perf-Out Ornaments, from 1992. These things do NOT pop up often! I’m not even sure how they were originally distributed, but they certainly weren’t Happy Meal prizes. Possibly corporate gifts of some sort? A cardboard Ronald in lieu of a Christmas bonus?
In any event, you’ll each get ONE from the set, which includes Ronald McDonald, Grimace, Birdie, and the Hamburglar. The “Perf-Out” title means that the ball-shaped ornaments are perforated – you can pop them off the cardboard sheet, stick a hook through the little hole, and hang ‘em on the tree!
I have roughly equal amounts of all four, so the gang will be pretty equally distributed among y’all.
BARNEY?! Yes, Barney the Dinosaur has entered his Funpack era. You’ll each receive this undeniably cute Barney clip-on plush doll, from the early 2000s.
Look, I may not be the world’s biggest Barney mark, but he is a true Thanksgiving icon, thanks to his big balloon’s viral implosion from the 1997 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. You’ve all seen the clip… and now you can own the clip-on plush doll!
These are a little over five inches tall, and are completely case-fresh, with the original tag still attached. You might not think you need this, but once you see how adorable he is, you won’t know how you survived without him.
You’ll also receive ONE of these vintage Masters of the Universe patches, likely produced in 1985, if not earlier. These are the “gluey” types of patches, where you can either iron them over clothing to affix, or perhaps more attractively, you can just use them as big fuzzy stickers!
You’ll receive one of the two patches shown above — either the heroes and villains in battle, or He-Man riding Battle Cat. Despite their advanced age, all of these patches/stickers/whatever are still very adhesive. (I know this for a fact, because I went through the trouble of migrating each patch to a fresh piece of release liner!)
I’m not totally sure how these patches were distributed, though I have seen mentions of them being “high-end” prizes in 1980s vending machines, where they likely would’ve been crumpled to fit inside those plastic capsules. Don’t worry, yours will arrive flat!
There’s a big batch of art for ya in this Funpack! This month’s 5×7” cardstock mini-poster is a photo of my beloved Hi-C / Slimer standee from the late ‘80s, wearing his special Thanksgiving hat. It’s joined by this month’s 2×2” sticker, starring an old school snowman blow mold.
But that’s not all! You’ll also receive a 6×6” cardstock reproduction of one of my all-time favorite McDonald’s promo images – their 1988 “Holiday Treats” campaign, which included everything from Holiday Chicken McNuggets to Eggnog Shakes! (Go ahead and buy yourselves a 6×6” frame now, because trust me, you’re gonna want one once this arrives!)
And then a little something that you can count as an early stocking stuffer – a random egg of Silly Putty! You’ll get one of these babies, and there’s a whole assortment of possibilities. You might get original Silly Putty, or scented Silly Putty, or metallic Silly Putty, or another one entirely!
(I had no idea that Silly Putty now came in so many varieties, but I ain’t complaining.)
Rounding things out, you’ll also get this month’s Funpack Newsletter, plus an exclusive essay that will never be reprinted on the site!
(This month’s essay is a tribute to the holiday leftover tray – a tradition in my family, and probably in yours. I have very deep thoughts about day-old pasta, and I think you’ll relate to them.)
So yep, you’ll get all of the above, for $25 shipped! United States only, please!
If you’re already a subscriber and you’d like to stay that way… do nothing! You’re all set, and your Funpack is already on the way!
