Dino Drac’s July Funpack is here! It’s the last stand before the spooky season, and I’m making it count with a subtly summery box that goes perfectly with the 500-degree weather we’re having.
Subscriptions are currently maxed out, but I have a small number of spare Funpacks that I can offer on an individual basis. *ONE* RETRO KOOL-AID PACKET PER FUNPACK!
Oh yeah, we are DOING THIS. After spending the last two decades very publicly collecting old Kool-Aid packets, I’m thrilled to share my strange little hobby with y’all.
You’ll each receive one SUPER VINTAGE, STILL-SEALED Kool-Aid packet, in custom protective packaging. These aren’t ratty packs with clumpy mixes – they’re in amazing condition, with bright packaging and still-shakeable contents. That said, this Kool-Aid is decades old and not meant for consumption!
I have three potential flavors in the mix. You’ll each receive ONE of the following, randomly picked:
Purplesaurus Rex (1989)
Rock-A-Dile Red (1991)
Pink Swimmingo (1993)
I have all three in roughly equal quantities, and all three are from their respective flavors’ debut years. (Note the “NEW” text on all of the packets!)
All three flavors are now discontinued, at least in the traditional packet form, and they’re three of the all-time most popular Kool-Aid flavors. Super nostalgic! This is such a major get for the Funpacks, and I’m so excited for you to receive them!
*ONE* POWER RANGERS BOOK PER FUNPACK!
Next up, you’ll each receive ONE of these vintage Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Activity Books, released in the mid ‘90s when the show was just starting to catch fire.
Each is loaded with games, puzzles, coloring to-dos and more, and they are 100% old store stock, never even flipped through. Both books are comparable in size and content… the one with the Zord is a teensy bit thicker, but the other one has Lord Zedd on the cover, so I’d value them equally. You’ll get one of these two books with your Funpack!
I had two missions with this month’s snack. One, I needed to find something that could safely traverse the country during a heatwave, and two, I wanted to give you something that you’ve probably never tried before.
With that, get set for a fresh box of Glico’s Pretz Pizza Sticks. These originate in Japan and aren’t easy to find in the States, which is a shame, because if there’s anything that screams “America,” it’s a box of delicately thin breadsticks that smell and taste like pizza.
I love these things, and they really do capture the essence of pizza. Zesty, a little spicy, and definitely bready. You’ll love them. They’re like Pocky for people who prefer salt to sugar.
Next up is a big pile of retro collectibles, starting with that mysterious Trolls blind bag, which was released in the 1990s exclusively in Italy. Each contains a tiny-sized Troll figurine and a couple of strange trading cards. Certainly nothing you’ve seen before, because not only are they super old, but they were never available in the States!
Joining that is a trio of 1990s trading card packs, including a Street Sharks Puzzle Pack, a pack of Power Rangers cards, and a pack of Desert Storm cards. All three felt appropriate for a summertime box, for reasons I’m not entirely sure I could articular. “Sharks, sand and spandex?”
Rounding things out, you’ll get this month’s exclusive 5×7” cardstock mini-poster, which hints at the season ahead with a bunch of the Universal Monsters partying with Pepsi and Doritos. That joins this month’s exclusive sticker, starring the Kool-Aid Man.
You’ll also get this month’s Funpack Newsletter, plus an exclusive essay that will never be reprinted on the site. (Since I know a lot of you are already in Halloween mode, this month’s essay is about Halloween-themed sitcom reruns airing in syndication back in the day. If you’re old like me, it’ll resonate.)
